Zookeeper Shows Why You Should Never EVER Turn Your Back On A Tiger, If You Want To Keep Breathing

Big cats have long been something of a fascination for people all across the globe. The ancient Egyptians worshiped cats in general, the Indians have tigers in their homes, and all around some of the favorite zoo exhibits for children have always been the lions and tigers. There’s just something about these creatures that seems to feel majestic to us, and if history is any teacher they will likely continue to be as long as we manage to keep the species alive. However, taking care of a large cat means a little more than just “throw the food in” like many children are apt to believe. For years zookeepers have stressed the importance of not entering any enclosures with their animals, and those warnings have been met with a slew of people doing the exact opposite because&hel...

Tiger Shark Nearly Bites Off Scuba-Cameraman’s Leg

This 20 day old video just went viral, accumulating over 600,000 views this week after being featured on GrindTV. Nature shows are chock-full of underwater footage, and there is always a special focus on sharks. All that shark footage has to come from somewhere, and to get a good shot divers must literally dive into the shark’s lair and press record. But this scuba-cameraman got a little to close for comfort with a very nice sized Tiger Shark who almost bit off his leg. Now you can appreciate the next Shark Week that much more.     Read more: http://www.viralviralvideos.com/2012/03/24/tiger-shark-nearly-bites-off-scuba-cameramans-leg/

Sometimes in the course of human events, we really really screw things up. Some of those screwups have small consequences. Others almost wipe out entire species. Fortunately, sometimes we also realize what we've done and try to fix it. And even succeed. Here are five times when good conservation saved animals we couldn't imagine our world without and and what we could do to help out right now. 1. That time hand puppets helped save the California condor The California condor has an image problem. It's a giant roadkill-eating vulture with a bald head and a face only another condor could love. So, in grand human tradition, we did our best to get rid of them. After decades of being hunted and losing its habitat, the California condor was at the brink of extinction. By 1982, th...

For those who have gone camping before, they know what to do if a bear comes in the camp. Group together, raise your hands, and scream. A moose starts to get real close to a man and woman in Sweden when the woman makes the first mistake-she turns her back and runs away. The moose takes this is an invitation of prey and moves forward. But the man raises his iron bar and screams. There’s a short stand off, but finally the moose is scared off. Thanks to the incredible conservation efforts of the Chinese government and international groups like the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the species is now classified as "vulnerable." Conservation efforts began back in the 1960s, when four panda reserves were set up in China and hunting the species was outlawed. While spiders freak us all out, they typically do a good job of warning us to keep our distance. But unlike scary-looking arachnids, there are some seriously dangerous insects out there that seem perfectly safe until they bite. Take Triatominae insects, for example. Also known as kissing bugs, these critters don't look like much. However, they can transmit a deadly disease that often isn't detected until it's too late. Kissing bugs can be found all over America, with some species in Asia, Africa, and Australia. They like to live in chicken coups and outdoor dog houses as well as under porches, rocks, and cement. Michael told Buzzfeed, The bird was pretty calm. It was probably tired from trying to fight the trap. The Fletcher boys quickly sprang to action, covering the bird in one of their coats to help set it free, but, before the boys allowed the bird to fly off into the sunset they had to take one quick, ridiculously epic, selfie. Two subspecies of lions were just added to the government's list of endangered species. One, found in central-to-western Africa and India, will be listed as endangered. The other, found in eastern-to-southern Africa, will be listed as threatened. But it's actually good news. In July 2016, photographer Amos Chapple went to see the mammoth pirates. Chapple has worked extensively in northern Siberia, near the Arctic Circle. Chicken Farm Shows How Free Range Chickens Live

Uncategorized
More and more awareness is coming to light regarding the horrid and harsh conditions that factory farmed chickens live under. Many consumers are turning to support more healthy chickens which are safer for ones own health, as well as being respected and allowed to live a happy existence. But which option do you choose? Theres cage-free, free-range, free-run, and organic. Unfortunately most eggs are produced by chickens that are stuck in cages with 5-7 other birds and all of them have their beaks are cut off so they dont peck one another. They are stacked like product in rows, and contained in barns with no windows. Pretty sick, right? Cage-free refers to hens that are not confined to the battery cages. Unfortunately, thats about it. In other words they have no access to outdoor areas. Fre...

We already know that whales and dolphins are pretty intelligent. Photo from NOAA Photo Library/Flickr. Bottlenose dolphins use sponges as protective face masks to probe the sea floor without damaging their snoots. Orca whales have unique teamwork-reliant hunting strategies, like creating waves to wash seals off ice floes. And different orca whale populations seem to have their own distinct cultures too. A new report suggests that those smarts might extend to emotions too. In fact, scientists think that whales and dolphins might mourn and grieve just like humans do. A recent paper in the Journal of Mammalogy documented this apparent mourning behavior in seven species of whale and dolphin, including spinner dolphins, Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins, orca whales, and sperm whale...

To help protect the species there’s been areas deemed off-limits for humans, like the BRT Tiger Reserve in India, but that doesn’t mean there’s no human populations on the reserve. Back in 2014 around 3,000 people were evicted from the area, but even further back in 2006 a law had been passed allowing the indigenous tribes to remain. That law has proven to be a real saving grace for the large jungle cats. Many different experts have attributed the rise in population due to the lack of human contact, though it turns out the local tribes...

Marek then called the fire department and a good number of firemen soon arrived to free the horse from the pit. Long straps were used to pull Freedom out. This did not work either though. The horse at this point was exhausted as by now she had been down there for several hours. Marek could only talk to the horse and tell her that it would all be okay. Then something happened. Freedom suddenly regained some energy and began fighting for her survival. After 12 hours, Freedom was able to es...

Polar bears aren’t actually white and more amazing facts about Arctic animals who need your help

Uncategorized
It's hard out there for an Arctic animal. The Arctic Circle is one of the last intact ecosystems on the planet to be mostly unaffected by industrialization (so far). But between the wind and the cold and the encroaching industrialization of the Arctic region, things are pretty rough above 66 degrees north latitude. That's exactly what makes these animals so remarkable. Adorableness aside (so much adorableness), these majestic critters are survival experts, built to tough out the most extreme conditions. But the looming threat of Royal Dutch Shell's Arctic oil drilling might be the one challenge they can't overcome. So while we celebrate their utter cuteness which is of course important let's not forget that they're also Mother Nature's Arctic BAMFs, but it's up to us to keep 'em ar...

25 Fastest Land Animals

25 Fastest Land Animals

Uncategorized
In the wild, speed is one of the most important means of survival. If you don't have that, then you have to be smart enough to outwit your predators. As such, the animals on this list have a distinct advantage since they are some of the fastest land animals alive. 25. Giraffe The giraffe is the tallest living mammal on land and the largest ruminant. They are easy to recognize due to their really long necks, the puzzle like prints on their pelt and their outrageously long legs. But don't let their size and awkward shape fool you; these gentle giants can still reach speeds of up to 32mph. 24. Grizzly Bear Bears are often romanticized as being gentle and cuddly, but bears like the grizzly are anything but that. In fact, they can be quite ferocious and downright deadly when prot...

25 Adorable Encounters With Wildlife You’ll Be Extremely Jealous Of

Every little girl or boy who's ever watched Disney knows that woodland creatures make the most loyal friends. At least, that's what the animated enterprise taught us. Sadly, as I grew up, I learned that while I desperately wanted to be friends with little fawns and tiny chipmunks, they're not so into it. But that doesn't mean that everyone is as unlucky as I am. Apparently, our wild friends like to pay their neighbors (us) a visit more often than I ever knew. Be prepared to feel extreme jealousy when you see what these people found in and around their homes. 1. "Thank goodness you're home! I was so worried." Imgur / mitch84208 2. Look closely... Smarter Than The Average Bear Climbs Across Rope To Get Food

Uncategorized
Canadian outdoorsman Pat Garrett of Garrett Bros Hunting caught an amazing, and hilarious, bit of nature on camera.  A black bear caught whiff of a piece of food set up by hunters on a rope extended between two trees.  Incredibly, the bear climbed the tree, and then across the rope like an acrobat to get to the food.  The amazed onlookers couldn’t help but laugh in astonishment.  “Hang on,” the cameraman said in between giggles. “If I didn’t see it, I wouldn’t believe it.” After all that work, the bear fell before getting a substantial bite.  “An A for effort.” Indeed.  The video was posted nearly two weeks ago, but has only gone viral now over the weekend.    Read more: http://www.viralviralvideos.com/2014/03/08/smarter-than-the-a
20 Amazing Examples of Animal Camouflage

20 Amazing Examples of Animal Camouflage

Humanities
Survival can become a challenging task in the wild – especially if you’re smaller or slower than your possible predators. This is why many animal species have developed different ways to camouflage themselves throughout the course of evolution. Ways to camouflage differ depending mostly on three factors: the physiology and behavior of the animal, then those of the predator and the environment, in which the animal lives and hunts its food. Blending in with the environment is the most common approach. [Read more...] Natural selection plays its part here as well: as the way in which an animal camouflages itself is determined genetically, every new generation adapts to its surroundings better. What usually happens is than an animal imitates the coloration of its natural habita...

He hears a whale crying and follows the sound. Now WATCH what happens when he get closer

Its heartbreaking to see animals in situations that they cant get out of. Such was the case with this Orca whale who became stranded on rocks. The tide turned off the coast of British Columbia and a pod of orcas who were likely seal hunting, lost one of their own as it became stranded, ending up on rocks. Whale watchers caught wind as to what had happened and thankfully came to the rescue. You can hear the poor guy practically crying for help. The crew acted fast as they knew they had to. Wet blankets and sea water to keep the whale cool was used and the video really is incredible as to what they did next to help this animal in distress. Check it out for yourself and then you will definitely want to share it with all of your animal loving friends and family! Read more: http://damn.com/...
